Welcome back. We have had a good summer relaxing and everyone seems to be fresh and ready to go for this coming season. As usual we are aiming to finish well up the league table and pushing for one of the top two spots, to gain promotion. There are several things following on from the end of last season that I’m really looking forward to seeing in action this year. Firstly, the team is starting to gel after a season together and a big influx of new youngsters. Secondly, the 2nd XV are looking young, fit and strong with everyone putting pressure on for a place in the 1st XV. Thirdly, the fantastic spirit we showed in the last few games when we really needed results to be carried forward into this year. And finally, to hopefully play the rugby we know we can, and saw glimpses of last season, more consistently. I would like to thank Pat Cussen for agreeing to be my Vice again this year. His help both on and off the field is priceless. I’m also looking forward to working with Glenn Storer and Mr Rich Tucker who have taken on the roles of 2nd XV Captain and Vice Captain. Players, be prepared for some no nonsense phone calls from the latter chasing you up for availability. Also a big thank you for all the work that goes on behind the scenes to keep the club moving, that includes the Committee, kitchen staff and bar staff. So, good luck, and let’s repay Bob and the loyal supporters for all the time and effort they have given to us with a successful year. David Armstrong 1st XV Captain
