> Probably more disappointing than the result was the fact that we were only able to round up 14 players for a top of the table clash away to Rochford, giving us little chance to avenge a narrow home defeat back in October against table topping Rochford. Against one of the biggest and physical packs in the league we lined up with 7 forwards, centre Kev O' Reilly starting in the second row alongside regular no. 8 Alfie Hill and a two man back row comprising regular wingers Ben Pitkin and John Arnone. Matt O' Herlihy responded to a late SOS and played the last 15 minutes. At that stage we were down to 13 men having lost winger and man of the match Pat O' Connor with a broken rib early in the second half, adding to the mounting back line injury list after a good defensive effort.

> Despite all this every Campion player put in committed performance and were only 10 - 0 behind at half time in windy conditions.
In the second half Rochford's forwards got their offloading game in the go and Campion were guilty of leaving holes around the ruck while attempting to cover the extra men. To their credit Rochford were patient in attack and picked their moment to strike, with their winger running in a two or three tries. Although Campion defended valiantly their first half effort soon told and gaps began to appear, however we did not give up and Alfie Hill went over for a try after a quickly taken penalty from Tom Ronayne, converted well by Hobbrough with a Dan Carter like banana kick See here!
Mike Hogan scored Campions second try after O'Herlihys first scrum saw the Campion pack turn over Rochfords scrum in our 22. Scrum half Russell Frost went blind and fed Ronayne who went through the covering defensive to feed Danny Ryan who unselfishly let the younger Mike Hogan sprint the remaining 60m to score in the corner.

> It's been a long time since the II's failed to field a full team, the commitment of the large playing squad has been excellent since the start of the season, let's ensure last week was a one off.
> Next up, the IIs face Braintree at home with the 1s hosting Enfield Ignatians.
NB. To end on a positive note, the IIs finally got their hands on the new stash.
